The Meeks Meadow Restoration Tour introduces attendees to a meadow restoration completed in the Lake Tahoe Drainage in a partnership between the Washoe Tribe’s Department of Environment  and the California State Park system. Attendees will be guided through the site by leadership from the Washoe Tribe’s Department of Environment. This project formalizes the “government-to-government relationship between the two partners, establishes a protocol for open discussions, and outlines the responsibilities of State Parks and the Tribe to promote successful cooperation, co-management, and collaboration for the mutual benefit of the Washoe Tribe and State Parks.”

Washoe Meadows State Park consists of meadows and woodlands in the valley at the base of the escarpment leading to Echo Summit. Máyala Wáta Restoration Project at Meeks Meadow is an example of incorporating traditional ecological knowledge for Living With Fire solutions.
