Enjoy a 30 minute walk to Rose Valley Reservoir where you will learn more about the reservoir, 2023 wildfire damage and recovery and lake management impacts. The Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant is the largest infrastructure project in the history of the City of West Kelowna. This state-of-the-art facility provides clean, safe, and reliable drinking water to nearly 20,000 residents and represents a major investment in the community's long-term water security. During the tour, participants will gain insight into the treatment processes used to convert source water from Rose Valley Reservoir into high-quality potable water. The facility utilizes advanced treatment technologies, including coagulation, dissolved air flotation, filtration, ultraviolet (UV) disinfection, and chlorination to meet provincial drinking water standards and improve water quality throughout the distribution system. The tour provides a unique opportunity to explore modern water treatment infrastructure, discuss watershed and source water considerations, and gain a better understanding of the critical role that water treatment professionals play in safeguarding public health.
